DREAM Act in the 85th #TXLege

In 2001, Texas became the first state to extend in-state tuition and grant eligibility to qualified Texas residents, regardless of immigration status. Known by many as “HB 1403,” the Texas Dream Act was passed by a bipartisan legislature and signed into law by then-Gov. Rick Perry. That law has made college affordable for hundreds of thousands of Texas DREAMers and helped boost the state’s economy. Unfortunately, the following bills have been filed seeking to repeal the Texas Dream Act in the 85th Texas Legislative Session:

  • SB 141 – Prohibits DREAMers from accessing TEXAS Grants
